Community Partnerships & Support Bring Thanksgiving Joy to the Maple Neighborhood YMCA

CategoriesUncategorized

A true sense of togetherness filled the Maple Neighborhood YMCA as local families shared a Thanksgiving Feast complete with delicious food, activities, and an early dose of holiday cheer. On Friday, November 15, the Y, in partnership with Fullerton Free Church and Mercy Commons Church, hosted a special evening for the community.

Around 110 community members gathered to enjoy a heartwarming, sit-down smoked turkey dinner, thoughtfully prepared by Javier Gomez, leader of Fullerton Free’s Spanish congregation. Fifty pantry boxes filled with essentials were distributed to guests to take home, showcasing the impact of community partnerships and ensuring the spirit of giving continued beyond the event.

“This event reflects what the YMCA stands for—community and support. Through partnerships like these, we create opportunities for families to feel supported and celebrated,” said Jordan Garcia, Executive Director of Fullerton Family YMCA. “This Thanksgiving Feast is just one example of the many ways we aim to give back, as we offer year-round programs and financial assistance, we’re here to ensure every family feels valued and connected.”

The evening was about more than just a delicious meal. Gomez shared a message of encouragement and led a prayer, bringing hope and reflection to the gathering. Volunteers from Mercy Commons Church made the event even more memorable by hosting family-friendly games and activities for the kids, ensuring fun and laughter filled the room.

The YMCA is committed to strengthening to uplifting Orange County residents throughout the year, especially during the holidays when community and family connection are more important than ever. Events like this Thanksgiving celebration highlight the power of community partnerships and the importance of coming together to support one another.
